How to get motivated. Do you know the secrets of how to get motivated so that you can accomplish your goals? It is much easier than you think, and you can do it any time of the day, and for any goal or task that you choose.
Are you ready?
All you need is desire.
A desire to reach a specific goal or perform a specific action. That’s all it takes.
You might find yourself struggling with this idea of ‘motivation’, always trying to get motivated or trying to stay motivated. But what I have discovered is that when you are in that place, you are really only struggling with yourself. This struggle causes you to lose sight of the goal you were after in the first place, and can wreak havoc on your life.
Here is the bottom line on motivation.
Either you want to do something or you don’t.
If you want to do a thing, motivation is rarely a problem. When you want to get something done, you find yourself willing to put out extra effort, you find yourself with plenty of energy, and you are anxious to get it done.
It’s only when you have resistance to doing a ‘thing’ that you begin to have a problem. This is where you begin making up excuses rather then just doing the thing that you want to do.
The truth is that it is easy to see problems and challenges that stand in your way.
But they are only problems and challenges if you choose to look at them that way. They could be opportunities for you to move closer to your goal! You have to ask yourself, ‘What is the bigger benefit here?’
Think about taking out the trash, for example. If you are like me, you probably aren’t fond of taking out the trash. I’ll put off taking it out, not for any special reason, just because it isn’t something that I like doing. But as the wastebasket and the recycling basket begin to fill up, I find myself taking them outside and emptying them, not because I like doing it, but because not doing it infringes on my desire to keep a clean house.
So the pain of taking out the trash is outweighed by the pleasure of keeping my house clean.
You could say that I am motivated to take out the trash – even though I don’t enjoy it – so that I can have a clean house.
This is pretty much the same thing that happens with any of your goals or things that you want to do in your life.
When you focus on the problems and challenges in your way, you find yourself looking for the motivation to get things done. But when you change your focus and look instead at the opportunities that will move you toward your desired end result, the motivation comes naturally.
How to get motivated is never the problem, no matter what time it is or what task you are facing. Once your focus is in the right place – on your goals and dreams – motivation is simply the power that helps turn your dreams into reality by reaching one goal after another.
