Happy Father’s Day, Dad!

That’s what I would say if my Dad was still here. I say it anyway, knowing that somehow, somewhere, his spirit hears me and knows how grateful I am for all he gave me and everything he taught me.

Dads are a special kind of man. I didn’t really understand this until my daughter was born, but it’s true. Something happens inside a man when he becomes a father. His perspective, in fact his whole world changes.

I learned a lot from my Dad. Some of those lessons were intentional, and some were absorbed simply by watching his life.

The biggest and most important thing that my Dad taught me, was to respect women. Not just some women, like my mother and sister, but all women. Dad was a gentleman at heart – and I learned from him that you always hold the door open, that you always let them go first, and that you never, ever, ever hit girls.

It’s obvious that not all fathers taught their sons these things. I wish they did.

I’m grateful that mine did.

Like all good lessons, this one matured within me over time, and when I met Donna almost 12 years ago I did something I had never done before. I opened her car door for her. I know, it sounds like a little thing, but I had never done it. Sure, I always opened and held the door for her and for others when going into buildings and the such, but I had never even thought about opening her car door for her.

So out of the blue, in the very beginning of our relationship, I decided to open her car door for her.

Yes, it’s a small thing, but its a courtesy, an act of kindness. And I’ve done it every day for the last 12 years. It has become a habit, something that I do without even thinking about it.

It is something that makes me feel good and I think it helps define me as a man.

So thanks Dad, happy Father’s Day!

You probably think that you are a pretty good decision maker, right? You make good decisions, don’t you? Don’t answer until after you watch this video featuring Dan Ariely!

Isn’t it interesting how easily the decision making process can be manipulated and twisted?

Do you see how this happens in your own life? You think you are seeing the ‘big picture’ but in reality you are simply seeing just a tiny slice of it at any one time…

There are quite a few lessons here.

The biggest lesson, I think, is that we all need to slow down our decision making. Yes, the ability to make quick decisions is important – but as you can see from the video, often your decisions are influenced by things outside of your control.

Sometimes, like the visual illusions shown in the video, it is impossible to see the truth about a situation without taking extreme measures and changing the way you are looking at things. (Like covering up the Rubik’s Cube so that you can see that the blocks really are the same color.)

Your perspective shapes your reality.

Change your perspective and you will change your life!

Okay, we are two weeks into the new year… it is time for a resolution round up.

The question is, how are you doing on all those fantastic New Year’s resolutions?

Are you still sticking with it? Are you still committed to making those changes that were so important to you just a few short weeks ago? Or have you fallen back into the same old routine, the same old rut, the same old habits as last year?

Far too many people have already given up on the biggest dreams that they had for this year. Yep, they have given up. It is so easy to let your dreams slide away as the excitement and optimism of the new year give way to the reality of your life.

It turns out that the new year isn’t that much different than the old one. You might have a brand new calendar on the wall, but everything else is the same. You get up in the morning and you face the same problems, the same fears, the same challenges that you faced last year.

Here is something that will help keep you on track with your resolutions and allow you to grow into your dreams.

The reason that you lose your excitement about your new goals so quickly every year is one of focus. As last year ended, you were THINKING about your dreams and goals. You were IMAGINING how different this year would look. You let yourself get swept away in the dreaming portion of the change process.

You were FOCUSED on your goals and dreams.

And do you know what you weren’t focusing on?

You weren’t focusing on your problems. You were focusing on solutions to your problems.

Rather than thinking about your lousy job, 0r the problems in your relationships, or your run-down car, or anything else that stresses you out, you were thinking about better jobs, better relationships, a better car…

You were thinking about a better life.

So what happened?

Life happened.

You changed your focus from dreaming about changing, back to the very problems that you want to escape.

So lets change it back! Because the only way that you are able to turn those dreams of yours into reality is to stay focused on them. You have to get yourself back into the mindset of change.

Try writing your top three goals on a piece of paper and put it on your nightstand by your bed. Read this goals list to yourself three times every night before you go to sleep. Then read it three times in the morning when you wake up. Do that for three weeks.

You’ll be amazed at the change using this simple technique will make in your mindset during the day. You will find yourself looking for solutions rather than finding more problems.

How are you doing on your resolutions so far? Have you reached some of your goals? Are you still struggling? Share your comments below!

Peace,

To multi-task or not to multi-task. That is a question that is getting asked a lot lately. Is it better to work on one thing at a time and focus your attention solely on that thing? Or should you work on as many things as possible, all at once?

Will multi-tasking help you reach your goals faster?

For a while, multi-tasking was quite the rage, and unless you had at least a dozen projects going at once, you were considered a slacker. But is that really the best way for you to use your energy? Does multi-tasking produce the best possible results out of your efforts?

It turns out that you can get your best results by choosing to focus on one thing at a time.

My own life bears this out. I am a pretty creative person and I get tons of great ideas for projects, articles, ebooks, programs, etc. For a while, as soon as I got a great idea, one that I didn’t want to wait on, I would start in on it and add it to whatever else I already had going on. At first this was not a problem, but as the number of projects I was working on grew, I found myself always working, but never getting anything finished to the level that I wanted.

When I realized what the problem was, and began limiting myself to working on two or three things at once, I noticed an immediate change in the quality of results that I was getting.

When I was multitasking, my energy was split in too many directions. Worse than that, my attention and my focus was split as well. Then end result was that I would eventually finish all the projects I was juggling, but not one of them felt complete. I felt like I could have done a better job.

When I kept my focus on a single project though, that project flourished. I felt better because I knew that I had done a better job.

I was reminded of the multi-tasking question the other day as I was reading Bob The Teacher’s internet marketing blog. Bob is a dynamo in the internet marketing training field, and as a former classroom teacher, he knows a thing or two about learning and the way we work.

Bob was writing about unfinished projects, (do you have any unfinished projects?) and he said, “…the more I multi-task, the more likely projects will not be finished.”

I couldn’t agree more.

This is the biggest danger of multi-tasking. You let your energy get so spread out, that you begin letting things slip away from you.

You see, the quality of your life is only ever as good as the effort you put in to attain or maintain that quality. When you only give a small slice of your time and energy and focus to what you are doing, because you are doing so many things at once, you never really get the full results that you should be getting.

You are cheating yourself!

You want the best for yourself and your loved ones, right?

Well, the only way to get the best, to have the life that you deserve, is to give your full power and focus to each thing you do. This means making some decisions about your priorities.

Decide what is truly important to you and vow to work on that and just that until it is finished. Then move on the second most important thing and give that your full attention.

Just as I did, you will notice an immediate change in the quality of the results that you are getting!

Try it and see. Cut down on the number of things you are working on at once and give your full attention to the one at hand. Remember, learning to make good decisions is crucial to the success you are seeking, and deciding how and where to focus your energy is one of the most important decisions you can make!

Peace,

A few days ago my wife Donna and I began a new success habit, one that we know will have a positive impact on our lives.

What did we do? We went down to the gym around the corner from our house and signed ourselves up! We worked with a trainer and we created a plan for success that will allow us to reach the health and fitness goals that we set for ourselves.

We committed ourselves to making our fitness routine a habit, because we know the power that our habits have over our results.

You might be wondering how to build success habits in your own life. It is simple. No matter what your goal is, in order to succeed, you will have to develop the success habits required to get there.

Your habits are so ingrained into your daily life, that in order to change the results you are getting on a daily basis, you will have to change a few of your habits. This isn’t as hard as it sounds.

But habits come in all shapes and sizes. You have ‘good habits’, ‘bad’ habits’, and some habits that are neither good nor bad.

You probably already have some success habits that are helping you move toward your goals and dreams. That’s great! You’ll want to keep those and build upon them.

The habits you will need to change are the ones that are not helping you reach your goals. These may or may not be ‘bad’ habits, but if they are not helping you…

…you might want to think about replacing them with some success habits that WILL move you forward!

You especially want to find a way to eliminate bad habits from your life. If one of your habits is causing you physical, emotional, or spiritual harm, you need to remove that habit from your life. Right now! Doing so will free up a tremendous amount of time and energy that you can then focus somewhere else – like on achieving your big dreams!

But success isn’t just about eliminating bad habits.

That is important, but at the same time, you also have to be developing success habits that keep you moving forward, that keep you aligned with your goals and dreams.

That’s why I wrote Success Habit Secrets, to help you master your habits.

You don’t have to be a slave to your habits, you don’t have to waste time and energy.

You can learn the truth about your habits and immediately begin transforming your life.

The details are right here: Success Habit Secrets

This week’s power affirmation is designed to help you gain clarity and focus, which are necessary if you want to avoid some of the struggles in your path.

Clarity, or the ability to see things clearly, and focus, the ability to stay on track, are two key abilities shared by successful people everywhere.

Keeping your focus on what is important to you, on those things that matter, turns out to be one of the most often cited reasons that people have trouble reaching their goals.

This isn’t because their goals and dreams aren’t big enough or important enough, it’s because there are so many other things competing for their attention.

As a result, they find themselves pulled in many different directions at once. Their energy and their manifesting power is scattered all over.

Have you ever felt that way? That all the little things in life are keeping you from reaching your dreams?

You don’t have to feel that way!

You can avoid this potential trap by reinforcing your focus with a power affirmation.

This week’s power affirmation will not only help you keep your focus strong and steady, it will enable you to increase your clarity as well.

I am intently focused on those things that I choose to manifest in my life. I am clear about my desires, and I always allow my inner spirit to guide me in the direction of my dreams. I am aware of the big picture of my life. My mind and my spirit work as one to reach my dreams. I am focused. I see clearly.

Add this affirmation to your routine twice a day and you will be amazed at how quickly you notice a change in both your clarity and your ability to stay focused during the day.

More often than not, all those little things that are distracting you from what is important can be dealt with or dismissed. Keeping your eye on the big picture helps you keep things in perspective.

Peace,

I love powerful law of attraction quotes. These little collections of words have a way of lifting me up when I am down and keeping me on track when I’m distracted. They can do the same for you! If you are looking for an easy way to inspire and motivate yourself, this is it!

Simply gather some quotes about the law of attraction and success, then put them around your living space in places where you will be able to see them often.

I have some great law of attraction quotes posted on sticky notes around my computer, and I have others scattered throughout my home. They serve as a constant reminder to myself that I need to be keeping an eye on what I am thinking and doing.

You can do the same!

Here are a few of my favorite law of attraction quotes:

Abraham / Esther Hicks

“If you’re not selfish enough to want to feel good, then you can’t connect with the energy that is your Source which does always feel good.”
– Abraham-Hicks

Whatever you’re thinking about is literally like planning a future event. When you’re worrying, you are planning. When you’re appreciating you are planning…What are you planning?
– Abraham-Hicks

Dr. Wayne Dyer

“I will see it when I believe it.”
– Wayne Dyer

“When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It’s to enjoy each step along the way.”
– Wayne Dyer

“There is no way to prosperity, prosperity is the way.”
– Wayne Dyer

Marianne Williamson

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.”
– Marianne Williamson

Richard Bach

“Here is a test to find out whether your mission in life is complete. If you’re alive, it isn’t.”
– Richard Bach

Benjamin Disraeli

“Nurture your mind with great thoughts for you will never go higher than you think.”
– Benjamin Disraeli

Albert Einstein

“Your imagination is your preview of life’s coming attractions.”
– Albert Einstein

Carl Jung

“What you resist persists.”
– Carl Jung

Quotes are great because they remind us of those principles that we know are true, but that we have let ourselves lose sight of. Often all it takes is a quick read of one of these law of attraction quotes to quickly get me back in a good state of mind.

Do you like reading inspiring and motivation quotations? Would you share some of your favorites below?

Your habits. What is the first thing that comes to your mind when I ask you about your habits? Are you excited about the habits you have now? Are your habits putting your future success on autopilot?

How you answer will shine a light on your true intentions regarding not only those habits, but about your dreams as well.

For the average person, a habit is a bad thing, something to be resisted and that they try to stop doing. They have long lists of habits that they intend to change or stop doing. They want to eliminate bad habits.

But those people who have a winning mindset, those people who are making their dreams come true, know that creating good habits is essential to the attainment of your big dreams and important goals.

You might not realize how much your habits, both the good ones and the bad ones, are responsible for the results that you get in life. They control your reactions to people, events, and situations each and every day.

If you have a winner’s mindset, you know this. You know that developing good habits is important. You know that the traits and qualities of the person that you are becoming will be built on the consistent daily practice of those habits.

Here are some easy ways to gain control of your habits.

Never try to eliminate a bad habit. You can’t do it. You must replace your unwanted habits with habits that empower you and move you toward your desired outcome. Look instead for the related thought or action that would replace the habit you want to get rid of, and work on that DAILY.

Choose your habits wisely. Sometimes we set out to create a new habit because we think it is the right thing to do, or because everyone else is doing it. Be certain that your habits lead to successful results. The simplest way to do this is to ask yourself, “Why do I want this habit? What will it do for me?”

Be consistent. You can only create habits, (of any kind,) if you actually do them everyday. Everyday means EVERY DAY. It doesn’t mean only on the weekends, or only when you are feeling like it. It means that once you commit to creating a new habit that you stick with it no matter what.

When you choose great habits, you will get great results.

That’s the bottom line.

Just like the auto-pilot in an airplane, your habits will guide you down the path that you have chosen. If you want to put your future success on autopilot, you simply need to ensure that your habits are ones that will get you the results that you want.

Peace,
