Bob,
Interesting! As a person who has been practicing the law of attraction since 2006, it’s certainly interesting to read this take on it but you are absolutely right. It’s kind of like that “careful what you wish for” idea… oftentimes, people don’t know what they need or want and therefore will the “wrong” things into their life.
I have always practiced gratitude and general law of attraction. I don’t write myself $250,000 checks from the Universe but instead try to allow the Universe to dictate what I need – my visualizations are much more general with specific goals in mind (happiness, contentment, the “things” that I need) and the Universe does a great job of getting them to me. When I first started practicing, I made the exact mistake you describe here so well and nearly gave up for the reasons that you state.
Great post!
Adrienne

@ Jr Deputy Accountant:
Thanks Adrienne, I think this is a ’sticking’ point for many people. They get too hung up on the process!
Peace!

Couldn’t agree more Bob. Always believed that we can attract what we want, we just have to take the action necessary to get there, as well as being consistent and following through with the details. Wishful thinking gets you nowhere….
@Jacqueline I know, it is often the following through that gives us a hard time.
So true, I find that at times I am more focused on “Why isn’t it here yet” than I should be. This feeling actually makes your goals push away.
I would love to hear more from you on this subject – thanks! Peace.
