Are You Writing Down Your Goals?

Are you writing down your goals? If you are… That’s great! Keep it up!

If you are not, if you have put off putting your goals and dreams on paper, you are cheating yourself out of the very success that you claim to want…

It sounds elementary, but quite often it’s the basic things that make or break your success in life, and writing down your goals is one of those things.

Goal setting is actually a part of the first key to creating your ideal life – knowing exactly what you want. Knowing where you want to go is essential to succeeding! In anything! From improving your relationships to increasing your abundance. I spend a lot of time on this concept in my workshops and seminars, but the reality is that you can’t get what you don’t aim for.

What happens to many people is that they have a vague notion of what they want and they head in that general direction, but they meander. They take lots of action and seem to do all the right things, but they never get closer to their goals.

Has this ever happened to you?

It doesn’t have to!

One of the most powerful ways that you have to increase your odds of achieving your goals is to ‘write them down’. This is really important… did you know that according to Brian Tracy in his book, “Goals”, that less than 3% of people actually write down their goals. Is it any wonder why so many people are frustrated and unsuccessful?

What’s more amazing is that those 3% are generally found in the top tiers of business and personal success.
So it’s important that you begin this process, right now. Don’t just nod your head and say “Yup, sounds like a great idea Bob, I’ll have to do that sometime.”

Find a way that works for you but do it now. Start with a list of 10 goals and work your way up to 100 goals. You should have goals in every area of your life:

  • Goals related to your relationships
  • Financial, Career,
  • Health and Well being
  • Spiritual and religious goals
  • Look at all aspects of your life and decide what you want it to look like… then write it down!

Taking this action right now will solidify your dreams in your mind and help you begin to discover new ways of reaching those goals.

    • Totally agree with you Bob. So many people skip this essential step. Your mind needs to know exactly what to bring you and in order for it to do it, you need to write down your goals.
      Great post!

      Bob,

Excellent post! I have a 1 inch stack of 6 x 9 colored index cards of goals in every area of my life & growing! They give you that reminder kick to keep you propelling forward when obstacles pop up! Goals keep you laser focused & cause the universe to send the right people & situations into your life. Never ceases to amaze me that you don’t have to know the “how” of accomplishing your desires just the “what” you want!

1 other point. . .you need goals backed by visualization that physically affects your body. I pictured 1 of my huge goals, a kids book series I’m writing on pos. attitude & kids empowering each other, 1 day on the way to the dr. I was talking w/ Oprah, on the set of my movie, book signings etc. My blood pressure, which is never high, was up. You can’t hide that true passion & exhileration!

Comment Tip - Do you wonder how some people get those nifty little avatars, (the tiny picture,) next to their names? They went to http://www.gravatar.com and got one. It's a free service and is worthwhile even if you only write occasional comments on blog posts. It really helps people relate to what you write when they can put a face to your name. ~ Bob
